Professional background: Andrew Kellett is a Professor of Inorganic and Medicinal Chemistry in the School of Chemical Sciences at Dublin City University (DCU), Ireland. His current research focuses on the discovery of metallodrug-nucleic acid interactions for biochemical and therapeutic applications, with multiple projects spanning chemical sciences and chemical biology.

He received his PhD under the guidance of Prof. Michael Devereux and Dr. Maureen Walsh from TU Dublin in 2007 and was then appointed as A.F. Graves Postdoctoral Fellow at the Focas Research Institute in 2008. He started his independent career in 2011 at DCU as a lecturer of Inorganic Chemistry and in 2014 moved to lecturer Inorganic and Medicinal Chemistry. He was appointed as an Associate Professor in 2017 and Professor in 2023. He is the coordinator of back-to-back multi-million EU funded Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network (ITN), called ClickGene and NATURE-ETN. His lab is supported by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), and SFI centres: SSPC, the SFI Research Council for Pharmaceuticals, and CÚRAM. He was named the SSPC’s ‘Investigator of the Year’ in 2022 and received a prestigious Irish Research Council (IRC) Laureate Consolidator Award. In 2023, he also received a prestigious 2023 DCU President’s Research Medal in the field of “Natural Sciences, Health, Engineering and related areas”.
